As I prepared for my teacher exam today, 오늘 임용고사를 준비하면서

As I prepared for my teacher exam today, I reviewed the English literature questions from the previous tests.	오늘 임용고사를 준비하면서 영미 문학 기출문제를 다시 풀어보았습니다.
English literature does not consitute the majority of the exam problems, so the reviewing took me only a couple of hours.	영미문학은 시험에서 비중이 크지 않기 때문에 복습하는 데 시간이 2 (두) 시간 정도 밖에 걸리지 않았습니다.
The extracts - about a score of them in all - abounded with sentences containing words which exist in my receptive vocabulary, but not in my expressive vocabulary.	지문이 모두 20 (스무)개 정도 되었는데 제가 읽어서 이해할 수는 있지만 쓸 수는 없을 단어가 있는 문장이 많았습니다.
For instance, in the sentence, 'Up to the age of five I enjoyed the privileges of myopia, seeing the world in a glorious haze like an impressionist painting.'	예를 들어서  'Up to the age of five I enjoyed the privileges of myopia, seeing the world in a glorious haze like an impressionist painting.' 라는 문장에서
I comprehend the words 'privilege', 'glorious', or 'haze' when I read them, but will I be able to use them in the way the writer did in the sentence?	privilege', 'glorious', 'haze' 같은 단어들은 제가 읽었을 때 뜻은 알 수 있습니다. 하지만 작가가 이 문장에서 썼듯이 저도 그렇게 쓸 수 있을까요?
No, not yet.	아직은 아닙니다.
Here's another.	또 다른 예가 있습니다.
'These noises converged in a single sensation of life for me: I imagined that I bore my chalice safely through a throng of foes.'	'These noises converged in a single sensation of life for me: I imagined that I bore my chalice safely through a throng of foes.'
I know what 'converge', 'throng' mean, but I could not possibly combine them in a sentence as  beautifully as the author did, just as a beadsmaker strings her beads to make a fine necklace.	'converge'나 'throng'이 무슨 뜻인지는 알고 있지만 목걸이 만드는 사람이 구슬을 꿰어서 아름다운 목걸이를 만들듯이, 작가가 그 단어들을 조합해서 그 문장을 만든 만큼 아름답게 쓸 수 있을 수는 없을 것 같습니다.
This thought made me a little down.	그래서 약간 기분이 가라 앉았어요.
I want to use as many elaborate words as the novelists.	그 소설가들처럼 어려운 단어를 쓸 수 있으면 좋으련만…
That's why I am always on the lookout for big words or impressive expressions, and then upon finding them, attempt to memorize them, but you know, they are literally countless.	그래서 항상 있어보이는 단어나 표현을 찾으면 외우려고 노력하고 있긴 하지만, 그런 단어들은 말 그대로 무한히 많잖아요. ㅠ.ㅠ
I hope to possess more items in my expressive word bank.	저도 표현할 수 있는 단어가 많았으면 좋겠습니당.
